This is my first time eating "Teppanyaki" in New Zealand. The atmosphere is good, and the staffs are kind. However, the steak that I ordered was overcooked, and we didn't have too much seasoning can choose such as salt, pepper and spicy sauce. I have been to Japan over ten times, and the sauce restaurants provide has always been amazing.

I,came here early for an appointment, so casually walked in. Not a big place, with a long teppan table, sitting rather cozy. But food is beautiful and reasonably-priced. Mine was served within 8 minutes, the yum yum not as good as my favorite Daikokou Takapuna, but cooking much better. I enjoyed my quick lunch. Parking around New Market? Well, you know the issue.

HEIZO Teppanyaki. I recently visited this fantastic teppanyaki restaurant in Newmarket with my fiancée and parents for a Saturday dinner. We sat right in front of the iron plate, giving us a perfect view of the cooking. The chef suggested we go with the two main course options instead of the "Sumo" three-course, and it was a great choice. The set included an appetizer, two mains, and a refreshing ice cream dessert. We had a variety of options like chicken thigh, sirloin steak, salmon, prawn, and squid. The meal began with a vegetable salad and grilled items like pumpkin, mushrooms, and prawns - everything was so delicious! For the mains, I chose sirloin steak (medium rare) and salmon, which were both excellent. The squid and chicken thigh ordered by others were equally amazing, and we all enjoyed our dishes. The portions were just right, leaving us fully satisfied. The lemon ice cream at the end was the perfect way to finish the meal.Overall, it was an outstanding dining experience. Since seating at the iron plate is limited, I highly recommend booking in advance. I'll definitely return for another special occasion!

Heizo is my favorite teppanyaki place in New Zealand! Nothing can beat the customer service and the quality of the food! We keep coming back and if I could, I'll eat here every week. The staff are friendly and accommodating. They always have a smile on their face and are hard working, very clean and tidy. No photos of food cause it was too good to stop and take a photo. Top quality veggies, prawn, steak and fish. I don't typically like salads but I ate theirs and enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

My friends and I came here for my birthday dinner and we had such a great experience that I absolutely had to write this review asap. We ordered the Taste of All set menu which included a bit of every type of meat and various side dishes. Normally set menu type dining is overly expensive and not filling but this was quite the opposite. The stand out was the prawns with yum yum sauce, that sauce was super yum! It’s also a great place to dine with kids as the teppanyaki meats and vegetable options in the kids menu is both kid friendly and healthy as well, where as most other restaurants only offer the typical fish and chips and macaroni and cheese etc. we also really appreciated the attention to detail to things like giving our daughter a small straw to drink her water with and her own kids dining set. At the end of our meal the chef also made a complementary teppanyaki banana sundae which was a nice surprise and super delicious with the caramelised ice cream. So excited to come back again!

We had a family meal and had a wonderful time. It was a cold night so sitting around the barbecue warmed us. Great atmosphere. Chef was great, food delicious and the staff were lovely. Recommend this place.

Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The lunch menu is really good value for money and really delicious. For $22, I had the Scotch steak, which came with a salad, miso soup and rice. The service was good, and the food came out quickly

I genuinely cannot express how much I loved the food. It was so delicious and something I wish i could have every day. There’s a wonderful variety of dishes, suitable for many. Perfect seasonings and delicious flavour. The staff were so friendly, welcomed us, and thanked us. They were very accommodating to us and we felt very comfortable with them serving us our dishes. The atmosphere is small, but very cosy, perfect to leave the cold for a while. It’s very welcoming and has a homely feel, as well as a “show” feel.

Really satisfying authentic lunch run by Japanese staff… the hamburger steak, salad, teppanyaki veggies and miso soup, and you can also order one extra bowl of rice… coming back soon for more!

Enjoyed a birthday dinner with friends. Delicious food and excellent service! There were a lot of options for dinner that would cater to different hunger levels. They also have a "taste of all" option ehere you get to try a little bit of all the mains - good option for people who like variety. The yum yum prawns were my favorite! We brought a cake to surprise our friend and they were so nice about keeping it in the fridge and serving it. They even switched the light off and added a candle so we could surprise him.

Overall amazing food!!I recently tried the prawns set from their lunch menu, and it was absolutely divine! The prawns melted in my mouth with each bite, leaving me craving for more. It's a definite must-try for anyone looking to indulge in exceptional flavors. I highly recommend it.

My new favourite restaurant! Food is amazing and authentic, the chef is very highly skilled and great to chat with while cooking our meals in front of us, the staff were brilliant and very attentive and the atmosphere is wonderfully cosy, almost like being welcomed into a very close friends home. Not knowing what to order, we decided to try the 'Taste of All' set menu for two and we were not disappointed! Every menu item served was succulent, tender and cooked to perfection according to our own personal preference. We left full, but not uncomfortably too full and already talking about when we will return before even getting to our car. Pricing was amazing value (2 x adults (menu for two) + 2 x children (kids menu items), including 4 x desserts + 2 alcoholic beverages each (adults only!) = $195. We loved it and looking forward to going back soon!

Would always give this place a 5 star. Went there today for my favorite lunch set which is the Hamburg Teppanyaki. Same lovely taste. Same lovely service. Same lovely authenticity. And the food the doesn't cost the Earth. Try their lunch sets. Outstanding value. Would recommend though they light up the place a bit more. Could be very dark.
