Each month, we are given a topic or a photo for inspiration. Think about looking through Pinterest for inspiration. That is how Cindy gets inspired by the challenge. If it is photo inspiration, she visits the source and asks if they'd like to be our inspiration for the monthly challenge. It's that simple! It's such a fun post each month.

Decor Ideas for a Patriotic Summer Front Porch
Bentley and I welcome you to our Patriotic Porch! I got a bit lucky. Bently is Ashlyn's dog. This is the only home he has known, but Ashlyn got married and moved out almost 2 years ago. Thankfully, she decided to share custody with us. Ha ha! We live 30 minutes from each other. We've gotten into a routine of every other week. This was never discussed, it just evolved. He seems to love it. He adores his Ashlyn. But our backyard is his true joy. Bentley was here last week when I photographed. He went home with Tim and Ashlyn yesterday after dinner. I will say that our cat, Jack, adores being the only pet in the house.

I bought this dress from Amazon 2 years ago for our France trip. It is so easy and comfy. It's lightweight and the coloring is perfect for the holiday. I am wearing a size medium.
This is the first year in many that we will be home for the 4th of July. We are usually in the Southport, North Carolina area. It's a gorgeous historic city on the water. It will always have my heart. The old, historic homes give me much joy. I never tire of strolling the lovely area and gawking at the charm. I have always been in awe over how all the homes go all out for the 4th of July. It is the home of the NC 4th of July Festival. Home after home is adorned in red, white, and blue. I've just been itching for an excuse to order patriotic bunting. I finally broke down and added it to the cart a few weeks ago!

It makes such a big difference for the holiday. It oozes curb appeal with minimal effort.

Let's move on up to the porch for the challenge.

Since entering the empty nest stage of my life, I've been going less is more for my holiday decor. I feel like I get a big wow with the bunting, but it's so easy to put up!
The porch touches are equally as simple.

This is a 3-minute look!
The simple flag banner is draped over the top of the mirror and a couple of small flags are placed in the faux boxwood containers.

The chinoiserie was made for patriotic decor!
I didn't feel a need to change out my pink flowers. They work with the red. Pink is just a lighter shade of red, right?

This has been up for about 2 weeks, and has held up beautifully on the porch.

I did not change any of my regular summer decor. I just simply tucked in flags here and there.

Bently is the perfect model no matter the season! He goes into pose mode when the tripod comes out.

This side of the porch only has a couple of flags added to the front porch wreath. This door basket spans the seasons with a simple flower change.

The Exterior

Let's take a look at the bunting again.

The bunting is very simple to hang. It has grommets across the top. I used white zip ties to anchor it to the railing. When it is time to remove it, I'll snip it with scissors. It's just that simple!

Don't be intimidated by the larger bunting in the center. It spans 6 feet long and is quite impressive.
My husband didn't like my original idea of hanging it with cup hooks. I thought I could leave them up for Christmas garland. I don't think he liked the idea of more garland. He didn't want the unnecessary holes in the wood. I had to agree.
I researched and found this outdoor double-stick heavy-duty tape on Amazon. It says it holds from 50-100 degrees. So far it's still up and it was 95 degrees yesterday. It is supposed to be damage-free and easily removed. I'll have to update you here after the 4th.
One thing to note about these buntings is that they are not screen printed. The parts are sewn and embroidered.

I hung it by myself in about 10 minutes. I cleaned the area. Then with our 6-foot ladder, I measured the center of the opening and the center of the bunting. I marked the spot with a pencil in both places.
Apply the tape to the bunting and press firmly to the wood. It was that easy!

The smaller buntings are 4 feet in length. You can find the lantern upcycle post here.
I will make sure to remove the buntings on a dry day. I want the buntings completely dry to store away. I will also brush away any debris before packing it away. With proper storage, I hope they will last many years.
I hope that my Patriotic Porch Decor has inspired you to add a bit of red white and blue to your home this season.
Up next on today's hop is my friend, Rachel, from The Ponds Farmhouse. You are going to be blown away by her rustic patriotic porch.
